Dr.-Ing. Martin Feick Receives the 2026 SIGCHI Outstanding Dissertation Award

We are proud to congratulate our alumnus Dr.-Ing. Martin Feick on receiving the prestigious 2026 SIGCHI Outstanding Dissertation Award! The doctoral thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr. Antonio Krüger at the UMTL (Saarland University and DFKI) and Prof. Anthony Tang at Singapore Management University.

According to the SIGCHI Outstanding Dissertation Award Committee,

“Martin’s dissertation advances VR haptics by combining novel hand-based illusions with proxy technology and adaptive personalization. His work integrates rigorous psychophysics, presents hardware–software prototypes, and provides open-source tools. The dissertation yields impactful practical contributions to enhance haptics, deepen theoretical understanding of multisensory integration, and broaden VR accessibility.”
